Prototype Information
R711 was built by the North British Locomotive Co in Glasgow in
1951. The locomotive was returned to service by West Coast Railway
as a 'super' R on the 22 October 1998 in WCR liver. In 2007
Steamrail Victoria completed restoration of R711, and repainted
the loco into a livery similar to that of the livery worn by
streamlined S class steam locomotives. Unfortunately, the
locomotive failed during testing at Newport and is not currently
in service.
