Prototype Information
Built between 1911 and 1927, the 'W' cars were a common sight on
many country passenger services. They came in 4 different classes
of carriage. These are: AW (First class), ABW (Composite first and
second class), BW (second class), and CW (guards vans). Within
these classes there are a number of different variations which
include clerestory roofed cars (58ft length), 'round' roofed
cars
(58ft and 64ft length), and both clerestory and round roofed CW
guards vans.
